Hapag-Lloyd is about to enter a new era: With the "Berlin Express", the first ship of our new Hamburg Express construction class sets sail. She is the first of twelve large containerships that will make our fleet even more efficient and sustainable. With a cargo capacity of 23,660 TEU each, the Hamburg Express ships secure the global exchange of goods and at the same time stand for innovation, digital technology and sustainability. Our goal is to operate our entire fleet in a climate-neutral manner by 2045. The "Berlin Express" helps us to achieve this goal because, thanks to its dual-fuel technology, the new class of ship can not only currently run on LNG (liquefied natural gas), but also on future non-fossil fuels such as e-methane.
Join us as we set sail on the maiden voyage with pictures from the vessel in Singapore, her first bunkering in Singapore port and her arrival in Jebel Ali, Dubai.
