Here's an update on the weather situation in Valencia, Spain

**Update: November 12, 2024**

Please find below update on the rail connection for Madrid – Valencia – Madrid

As previously communicated, this rail corridor is not expected to be operative during the next weeks but we are looking forward to providing the continuity of this service. Therefore, since November 8 2024, we have been working with the following alternatives to support your cargo planning.

  • Four departures per day: Two export departures Madrid - Valencia, and two import departures Valencia - Madrid
  • Connection, betweem Valencia and Madrid via Teruel
  • 24-hour transit time

This new routing represents a 300km addition to the former one, and therefore it will have an additional cost of EUR 200 for 20’ and EUR 260 for 40’. Our sales and customer service teams remain at your disposal for any additional information you may require.

**Update: November 7, 2024**

Terminals and depots:

  • No changes from yesterday; operations continue as previously reported.

Rail connection:

  • We have been working on an alternative rail service between Madrid and Valencia. We are pleased to confirm that this alternative service is now available. For questions, based on your individual situation, please reach out to our your local customer service team.

**Update: November 6, 2024**

The situation continues to impact our operations. We are actively working on solutions to minimise any disruptions.

Terminal Status:

  • Our container terminals, APMT and CSP, are operating normally, with opening hours from 06:00 to 20:00. Empty equipment is primarily being released from these terminals.

Depot Status:

  • The Transport, Intercontainer, and Docks depots are open and fully operational from 08:00 to 18:00, though road restrictions remain near these terminals.
  • Setemar is available as an alternative, while Recomar is limited to accepting empty container returns from imports (not for export pickups).

Road and Rail Conditions:

  • Same road restrictions we previously advised are still affecting truck transport times.
  • Rail transport between Madrid and Valencia remains suspended, but we are actively working on an alternative rail connection and will update you as soon as it becomes available. In the meantime, truck transport is offered as an alternative; please contact Customer Service if you are interested.
  • The rail connection between Bilbao and Valencia is now operational.

For the latest information on the status of your shipment, please contact your local customer service team based on your individual situation.

**Update: November 5, 2024**

The severe flooding in Valencia has caused significant disruptions across our operations. We remain relentless in our pursuit of alternatives to ensure solutions are in place for our customers during this challenging period.

Terminal Conditions (APMT & CSP)

  • Terminals are operating at a reduced pace with limited personnel.
  • Empty containers can be returned from imports and picked up for exports with no restrictions.

Road Conditions

  • Main lanes to and from terminals remain limited, with a new lane opened for access from southern areas (Alicante, Murcia).
  • Bypasses and detours are causing significant delays, with up to a 3-hour queue.
  • Time restrictions on the Madrid route are lifted, with a new road open. Please note, Madrid-Valencia travel now takes approximately 7 hours.

Truck & Rail Operations

  • Rail activities are suspended.
  • Truck availability is reduced due to damage and staff shortages. We will keep you updated with the truck availability situation in the coming days.
  • Five loaded trains are stationary in Madrid. Night shuttle trucking (22:00–07:00) is being arranged to help decongest the Madrid Torrejon ramp.

Depot Operations

  • The Intercontainer and Trans-ports depots are operational, with Intercontainer running limited hours (up to 15:00).
  • Only export releases are being handled; empty returns from imports are redirected to terminals as noted above.

Thank you for your understanding as we work through this situation. We will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available. For the latest information on the status of your shipment, please contact your local customer service team based on your individual situation.

**Update: November 1, 2024**

The severe flooding in Valencia (ES) has caused significant disruptions across our operations. All depots in the area are temporarily closed due to electricity outages and accessibility challenges. Our teams are on-site and working hard to restore full operations as soon as conditions permit.

As of today, terminals have resumed gate and yard activities with reduced staffing, as road closures and access restrictions continue to affect the region. Approximately 50% of office staff are working remotely, though terminal and warehouse functions remain impacted by the current disruptions.

Rail services are operating at a limited capacity, with trains expected to be idle until Monday, pending necessary infrastructure repairs. New rail bookings for export cargo from Madrid to Valencia are currently on hold until operations are fully restored.

Truck movements have also paused, as many vehicles sustained damage from the flood and road access remains highly constrained.

Thank you for your patience and partnership. We will continue to keep you informed of any significant changes. For the latest information on the status of your shipment, please contact your local customer service team based on your individual situation.

**Update: October 30, 2024**

Due to the recent heavy rainfall across south-eastern Spain, we are currently facing unavoidable disruptions to our transport schedules. Extreme weather conditions have impacted road safety and temporarily reduced the transport routes available in the region.

We understand the importance of timely deliveries to your operations. Our teams are working diligently with our transportation partners to find alternate routes and minimize the impact on your shipment. While we are committed to doing everything we can, some delays are likely to continue until conditions improve. We are closely monitoring the situation and will continue to reevaluate and adjust our approach as new developments arise.

Thank you for your patience and partnership. We will continue to keep you informed of any significant changes. For the latest information on the status of your shipment, please contact your local customer service team based on your individual situation.
