Hapag-Lloyd is proud to introduce the "Hamburg Express" - the latest addition to our fleet and a new chapter in our journey towards a sustainable future. As the largest container ship ever to sail under the German flag, the "Hamburg Express" is part of a series of twelve ultra-modern vessels designed to enhance the efficiency, sustainability and future viability of our fleet.
With a cargo capacity of 23,660 TEU, each vessel in the "Hamburg Express" class supports the global flow of goods while setting new standards in digital technology and environmental protection. Our vision is clear: Hapag-Lloyd aims to operate a carbon-neutral fleet by 2045. The "Hamburg Express" will play a key role in achieving this goal. Equipped with advanced dual-fuel technology, it can already run on biomethane and e-methane, preparing for a future powered by non-fossil fuels as they become available worldwide.
The "Hamburg Express" is more than just a ship; it symbolises our commitment to innovation and Hamburg's proud maritime heritage, which has shaped Hapag-Lloyd for almost two centuries. With this ship, we continue to honour our city's legacy as a global gateway while embracing a forward-looking approach to the maritime economy.
